Start-up Businesses: The Challenges, Key Tax Issues and What Supports are Available

In this session, Michael O’Scathaill will provide guidance on the challenges faced, the key tax issues encountered, and look at what supports are available when starting up a business.
Navigating the tax system can be one of the more daunting challenges for the new business owner. However, in addition to the challenges, there are a number of tax-based supports that, with careful planning, can assist in that start-up phase. This session will give an overview of the main tax-based supports, the key conditions to be met and how they might be accessed. It will also provide an overview of the supports that Enterprise Ireland offers to High Potential Start-ups (HPSUs).
