This short course will refresh your knowledge of basic management accounting concepts. It is particularly useful for accountants who may be entering into advisory/consulting work with clients. Attendance will not only refresh your knowledge, but also bring the basic concepts into todays’ business context through simple examples.

 

This course will refresh participants' knowledge of the following topics, including contemporary insights:

    • What is management accounting today?
    • Cost objects, cost behaviour and relationship to activities 
    • Costs and decision making 
    • Planning and control 
    • Non-financial performance.

 

On completion of this course, you will have refreshed your knowledge of basic elements of management accounting, acquired some contemporary thinking on the basics and had some examples from contemporary businesses.

Martin Quinn

Martin Quinn is a professionally qualified management accountant with experience in both indigenous and multinational firms. Martin has been involved in academia since 2004, primarily teaching management accounting. Martin’s research interests include accounting change and accounting history.
