Description: Lisa will discuss the common errors seen in preparing valuations for companies and businesses including a reminder regarding the tax rules for valuations for tax heads such as CGT, CAT and Stamp Duty.

Topic: A Welcome to VAT

Description: During this session Naomi will speak about where VAT came from, what Revenue look at when carrying out their reviews, a look at the different VAT rates and a recent tax appeals case showing the importance of fully understanding what goods or services a client is supplying.

Topic: Accounting for contingent liabilities

Description: Claire will present a reminder of the definition of contingent liabilities, and work through examples of how these may be seen in practice, including in business combinations. She will look at the disclosures required, and provide an example of how contingent liabilities may be disclosed in financial statements.

Topic: AML - Client On-Boarding and Customer Due Diligence Considerations

Description: Elaine will discuss the benefits of implementing a comprehensive Client On-Boarding Process. Elaine will also discuss the importance of applying the correct level of Customer Due Diligence and the instances when Enhanced Due Diligence must be applied, as set out in the legislation.

Sinead Gortland

Sinead joined the Corporate Consultants formations team in OmniPro in 2016 and built up her experience and knowledge before moving into the Company Secretarial team and is the current Head of OmniPro Company Secretarial.

As a key member of CPD Stores speaker team Sinead’s focus is Beneficial Ownership, Annual Compliance and Corporate Governance. Sinead is passionate about making company secretarial and company law accessible and approachable to agents and accountants.

As a member of the Corporate Consultants team Sinead is also responsible for carrying out; Section 343 applications, High Court Company Restorations, Annual Compliance, Company Law Compliance and AML. As well as this Sinead delivers bespoke training in the areas of corporate governance and compliance.

In her previous roles Sinead spent time in education and ESG and has a MSc from Maynooth.

Lisa Cosgrave

Lisa is a key member of our tax technical support team, providing advice on all tax heads in response to queries submitted. In addition, she provides support within the tax department on company/business valuations, tax planning, restructuring and exit planning solutions for a range of clients, liquidations, and company secretarial issues. She also has experience in financial reporting and audit.

A Chartered Certified Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, Lisa trained and worked in practice for six years prior to joining OmniPro, where she gained experience in financial reporting, tax compliance across all tax heads and audit. She has experience with a range of small and medium sized businesses assisting them with their financial reporting obligations and tax compliance across all areas.

Omi Butler Limited

Naomi Butler

A Chartered Tax Advisor, Naomi commenced her training in 2004 and has been working in practice since then. She progressed from trainee up to Head of Tax Compliance and Personal Tax Manager. Naomi has a range of experience overall tax heads with a strong understanding of personal taxes and payroll. She now has her own practice through which she provides in-house training as well as talks to employees on the Irish tax system along with looking after her private clients. She delivers Adult Education courses in general tax and sole traders through evening or night school in Knocklyon as well as teaching those sitting ATI and ACCA exams.

Grant Thornton

Claire Thomson - Director

Claire is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and trained with Grant Thornton Ireland. She spent 5.5 years in corporate audit, before moving to the firm’s risk & compliance team, where she spent 6 years supporting the all-Ireland practice as their UK financial reporting subject matter expert.
After a year in OmniPro’s Practice Support team, where she delivered webinars, developed technical content and provided post-monitoring support to firms, she is now with Grant Thornton, based in Northern Ireland, where she is Head of UK Financial Reporting and Accounting Technical, providing UK advice and support to local and international offices
