Ireland’s first automatic enrolment retirement savings system, MyFutureFund, will launch on 1st January 2026. This will represent a significant and positive change to the Irish pensions landscape as approximately 800,000 employees across the country will be automatically enrolled via payroll software by the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority (NAERSA), a state agency that will administer MyFutureFund. Accountants often play a vital role in managing payroll for SMEs, therefore it will be important that they are familiar with MyFutureFund in advance of the launch.
